Alloy Description
The ALLOY 36, 42, 48 are nickel, iron controlled expansion alloys with high magnetic permeability.
Alloy 36 has near zero coefficient of thermal expansion at room temperature and till 100 °C. Used in instrumentation and in thermostats.
Alloy 42 has low expansion till 300 °C and it matches the expansion of soft glass. Used in lead wires for electronic applications and for core of Dumet wire (glass sealing part in lead-in-wires for electric lamps).
Alloy 48 has expansion that matches soda-lead and soda lime glass. Leads for electronic applications.
Condition of Supply
- Cold Drawn, Spring Temper.
- Cold Drawn, Annealed.
